Dare Devil

Owen has developed a new little habit. Whenever he can he likes to climb up on the table and play with whatever objects might be there. I guess a plastic cup is funner to play with when you're on the table as opposed to being on the floor.

He thinks it is quite funny when he climbs up on the table. He is quite proud of himself for learning this new trick. He also loves to copy his Dad. Any little gesture, noise, facial expression or body movement Dad makes, Owen has to copy. We noticed this one night at the dinner table. Mommy and Dad were talking and Dad put his hands behind his head and rested them up against the wall. Within seconds, Owen was doing the same thing. Whenever Dad yells at the TV while watching football or the Jazz, Owen does the same thing (only it is the Owen version).

And of course he just loves to run around the house playing. The more toys and stuff he can scatter about, the better. He likes to hold Dad's hand and walk down the stairs now, instead of being carried. He also closes the gate at the bottom of the steps as well. When you say the phrase, "Change your diaper" he immediately runs off looking for a place to hide. Diaper changing means two or three minutes where he doesn't get to play. Owen is really good about going to sleep. Though sometimes we'll put him to bed, and then we'll hear him upstairs in his crib talkng to himself or making fart noises (he thinks that's funny too).

Halloween Fun!

Owen had a great time trick or treating. We went down main street and that was okay. The shops had run out of candy by the time we got there. Owen mostly just liked seeing the other kids dressed up. We also went around our neighborhood, Owen thought this was great fun. He was a little wired up on candy when all was said and done. We had some friends over Saturday night and Owen was bouncing off the walls. I don't think he has ever had so much candy. He is truly a fan of Halloween

Silly Owen

It's been a rough few weeks. Owen has had a stomach virus and it has been tough for all of us. But that hasn't stopped him from being a silly little boy. He does everything he can to entertain us and cause trouble.
He especially likes to take Dad's garments and run around with them on his head. He still loves his Star Trek guys, but he also plays with the Halloween decorations we have. His favorite thing is to sit in his little chair with a an empty Wii steering wheel and "play" Mario Cart with Mommy and Dad.

Here are some pictures of Owen clowning around and generally having a good time:

Owen Loves Star Trek

Well, it's official, our little Owen is a nerd. He found some of Dad's old toys and went straight for the Star Trek guys. He's been playing with them ever since. In this picture he is hugging Dr. McCoy and Spock. He carries the guys all around the house, puts them in the kitchen cupboards, in the bathtub and even on the stairs. Mommy is a little worried about having two nerds in the house now. Dad on the other hand is very proud.
We've had quite the exciting times recently. Dad went hunting and shot an antelope. Owen and Mommy went to Mesquite and Bryce Canyon with Grampa and Grandma Higham, Dad couldn't go because school and work and he missed Owen swimming in the pool down in Mesquite. So we've been pretty busy. Here are some pictures of our recent events:

With school and work and everything else going on it doesn't look like things are going to slow down anytime soon. We have Halloween coming up which carving pumpkins and having all sorts of fun. So we'll try to update the blog more as often as we can, but we won't make any promises!

Birthdays, Yellowstone, et al.

Well, summer seems to be flying by and we're still just as busy as ever. We celebrated Mommy's birthday and Aunt Chelsea's birthday together at a "Burger Bash" in Tooele. My Aunt Valerie, who is the Food Editor for the Deseret News posted the event on her blog on the Deseret News website. For those interested in seeing me chomping down on the gigantic burgers I made for the event can read all about it by clicking this link:

We followed that up with a great trip to Yellowstone. We went with Grampa and Grandma Nash and we stayed in Jackson Hole. We made two trips into Yellowstone over the course of two days and had a lot of fun. Owen was very patient during the car trips and even tried to drive the car himself!

Here are some of the great pictures we took while on our trip:

We had a really great time and we were sad when it was time to come home and go back to work. It wasn't all that bad, though. Owen really missed his doggie Lily. She had to stay with Grampa and Grandma Higham while we were in Yellowstone. He would walk around the house with his hands raised when we would ask, "Where's Lily?" He would then walk around looking for her. He missed her so much he began making new friends in Yellowstone:

Once we got back it was time for more birthdays! On Wednesday, Mommy and Owen went down to SLC to not only pick up Lily but to also celebrate Grampa Higham's birthday. They had a big party in the park and Owen got to play with his cousins Ryan and Layla. But most of all he was reunited with Lily who has hardly left his side since she's been back!

So we're pretty much tuckered out. But we can't rest on our laurels for too long, next weekend is Layla's one-year birthday and then we have a family reunion and then it is Aunt Collette's birthday and then who knows what after that!
