The last couple weeks ...

We have had a great last couple of weeks. First it was my oldest sister's birthday. Next was Bear Lake. We had a great camping trip it was perfect weather. It was also Heritage Days up there, and I got to catch a big fish with my hands. Unfortunately I didn't win the prize or get to keep the fish. I also didn't get any pictures of it but it was pretty funny. Next it was time to remodel our bathtub and shower enclosure. Chism's dad was a great help with the bathroom. Next was the bad Aggie game. It was a lot of fun and we had a good time. Unfortunately they lost, and I have yet to see them win.

What's Been Happening Lately

We've been so busy lately it has been hard to keep up with the responsibilities of the blog. So here is a run down of what we have been doing:
We went to the Hogle Zoo for Layla's birthday. Owen had a great time. We've been to the Logan Aquatic Center a few times this summer so Owen can keep up on what he learned during his swimming lessons. Mommy went to SLC for Auntie Collett's birthday. Grampa and Grandma Nash as well as Uncle Chase, Auntie Luz and cousins Olivia and Hunter came up for a visit on Saturday. We also went to Willow Park and took a look at the animals at that zoo as well a played in the park.
Owen has also taken to copying Dad even more so than ever. On Monday morning, Dad was mowing the lawn and as soon as Owen was dressed he raced outside and grabbed his little lawn mower to help!
Here are some of the pictures we have taken over the last few weeks:

Another Busy Summer

Well, it's been another busy summer! From Lagoon at the end of June, the Fourth of July, the 24th of July and then Bear Lake this past weekend, we've been some busy folks. Add in job interviews, a trip to Wendover, getting the house ready to put on the market and work it's a wonder we can still breathe. Yet, we managed to get most of it caught on film. So here are some pictures of the last few weeks' activities. We have some pictures of our second trip to Lagoon, Owen sitting in his booster seat like a big boy, the Fourth of July at Grandma and Grampa Nash's house and just general screwing around!

Infamous Outlaws

This is the infamous Saggy Bottoms gang. Pictured from left to right:

Top row: Blanche Calhoun, the meanest barmaid in the Rocky Mountains; Pa Calhoun, patriarch of the gang--he shoots straighter when drunk; Big Bad Bob, rifleman and ornery when hungry; Dusty Bottoms, criminal mastermind of the gang.

Bottom row: Lippy Calhoun, he's little but what he lacks in size he makes up for in meanness; Ma Calhoun, she's a real dandy with the pistol; "Sinister" Sally, wife of Big Bad Bob, she's the best muleskinner in the West; Little Bad Bob, he's just as mean and ornery as his Dad; Little Layla, don't let the cute face fool you, she can shoot better than most men; "Mean" Maggie Calhoun, she's been known to knock a bull out with one punch; "Ante-Up" Allison Calhoun, she's the money manager of the gang, but she usually gambles away most of the loot.

If you see this gang it is best to runaway, they are a mean, irritable bunch, especially on hot days in the middle of summer. They are armed and dangerous.

Cutting Down the Old Trees

Well, it was finally time to go ahead and do it, we got those three old elm trees in the yard cut down. It wasn't too expensive, relatively speaking and we saved ourselves $1500 by doing the clean up ourselves. It was a daunting task, but two weeks to the day of having them cut down, we had the yard cleaned up. Only a few big stumps were left and we were able to roll them off of the lawn.

Here are the pictures in the various stages of clean-up:

This was taken the day after the trees were cut down.

We're making some progress...

...And we're done!

Owen had a great time helping out. He especially enjoyed having Grampa Nash come and stay with us for a few days to help clear out the wood.

But we had lots of help from Grampa and Grandma Higham and Auntie Collette and cousin Ryan. Not only did Grampa Nash come up for four days, but he and Grandma Nash came up on Sunday night and stayed over on Memorial Day to help as well. If it wasn't for the help of family we'd still be buried underneath the pile of dead wood.

We also had plenty of passers-by stop and ask for wood. All in all about 20 truck loads worth of wood was hauled off. We still have several big stumps and a large stack of wood already cut and stacked next to the house. It was a rough two weeks, but we got it done just in time for our vacation to Mesquite which starts on Thursday!

Thanks for the help, everyone!
