Cooper.Owen and Christmas time

We were in a rush to try to get everything done before Cooper arrived.  We went out the Saturday before he was born and cut down our Christmas tree with both sides of our family.  It was a perfect day.  I think even at one point I was hot.  We roasted hot dogs out there and had smores it was a lot of fun.  We came right home and the next day but up the tree and all the decorations.  It all got done before the big day.
This is poor Cooper on  phototherapy.  It sucks to have to do that the only time you can hold him is when he was feeding or changing his diaper other than that he had to be on it all the time.  It was only for a few days but I hated every moment of it.
Owen has been the best big brother to Cooper.  Owen helps out whenever he can.  He likes to try to help when he is crying and sing a song or do a dance.  I think he is really glad to have him finally here.

After a week his cord finally fell off and he got to have his first bath.  He loved it.  He never cried he like every moment of it.

We have been trying to keep Owen busy and not feel left out as much as possible.  My mother in-law came over and helped him make some gingerbreads to hang.  I think he really enjoyed it.  We tried to do a gingerbread train but Owen decided to take a big bite out of the wheel of the train so it is still sitting here.  We will have to mend and try again.  We are so excited for Christmas.  We will try to keep updating as things happen.  Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

Owen Chance Nash is proud to present...his baby brother!

Owen has been the most excited about his baby brother. He sings to him to calm him down. We even caught him doing a little dance for his baby brother when Owen thought no one was watching.
Born Tuesday 11/27/2012 at 5:46 pm; Cooper Riley Nash weighed 7 lbs 3 oz and was 20 inches long. It was a long, hard labor, (just a little over 12 hours and considering Carrie insisted on a natural birth with no epidural). But eventually the little guy came along. The staff at the Mountain West Medical Center was excellent. Tooele has a great facility for labor and delivery and I would highly recommend them.

Cooper has had minimal health problems, he has 10 fingers and 10 toes. However, his bilirubin count is high, so unfortunately, we have had to put him under phototherapy. Other than that, things have been going smoothly.
Oh yeah, we also celebrated Thanksgiving last week and Owen had a blast.

Halloween

We had a great Halloween. It was fun filled for sure. We went to boo at the zoo and it was perfect weather. The kids got lots of candy and we checked out all the cool animals. The next couple of days were filled with lots of trick or treating. Owen did trunk or treating and also on Halloween. He was not a big door to door kinda kid. He went to about ten houses and then said he was exhausted. It was fine he had plenty of candy to last forever. Owen is now excited that November is here and he is all ready for his new baby brother to arrive. Not much longer less than 3 weeks left.

Last trip to Bear Lake!

What a great weekend we had at Bear Lake. We could not have asked for much better weather. We were able to go out on the sail boat and do a little sailing and fishing. My grandpa Nak was able to come up with us and we had a great time on the lake. Owen was pretty sure he was the co captain and even got to help steer the boat.

Football also started and we have all been pretty happy campers around here. Owen loves to cheer for his dads team.

My sister also turned the big 40. I got her the sign and a few other over the hill things. Not sure she really appreciated it but it was fun. Happy Birthday older sister.

Bad week

Grandpa Higham and his girlfriend Lou

Grandma and Grandpa Nak

What a rough week. My grandma Nak passed away on Friday and then Monday night my grandpa Higham passed away. My grandma had a stroke about a year and a half ago and has not been herself. As much as this is a good thing it is always hard to loose a grandparent. My grandpa had been struggling with Lukemia for quite some time. They both will be greatly missed and as Owen would say they are with the angels now.

It's a ...........

BOY! We are both super excited to have another boy. The way I look at it is to have a baby at this point was a true miracle. We went through a lot for a long time and just decided to call it quits and then it happened. Owen and Chism both thought it was a girl and I thought it was a boy. Owen was a little dissapointed it was not a girl but I think he is still okay with it. My mom on the other hand is going to have to find something to do with all the girl clothes she already bought! Silly moms. We will keep everyone updated as things move along.

The last few weeks

On  Father's Day we got out the slip and slide for the kids and they really enjoyed playing on it for hours.  I don't think they would have ever stopped playing on it.  We had a really good day spending time with family.

Next we were off to Bear Lake for a weekend of fun.  My grandparents have a cabin up there.  We first had to clean it.  Nobody had been up there for almost two years.  There was many bugs to clean.  We had a big crew so it didn't take long them we were off to enjoy the great weather.

We did lots of fishing.  We fished on the East side of Bear Lake and my sister Maggie was the only one with luck there.  Owen was not a big fan of the rocks on the east side.  When we woke up early the next morning to go fishing his one request was DO NOT TAKE ME TO A ROCKY BEACH AGAIN!  He didn't have much luck digging in the rocks he prefers sand.  Up the road by my grandparents cabin is a little pond where we went fishing we had great luck there and caught some pretty nice fish. Even though my fish almost got off once I brought it to shore.  Me and Chism both had to dive in the mud to save it.  But it was worth all the mud and grime.  That is part of fishing.

Bear Lake is a great time and we all can't wait to go back again for some more fun.   We had a great time spending time with my family.

We also had a great 4th of July we spent it with Chism's family.  We went to the parade and wow was it a hot one.  It was so hot Owen wanted to go home before it was finished.  We had a great barbeque and lots of food. I was short of picutures this day.  We went and watched the Fireworks in Grantsville and had a good time.

On a side note we find out what we are having this Wednesday so I will be sure to post again

Memorial/Vacation

We just had our annual vacation in Mesquite the day school let out. Mom, Dad and Owen went with Grampa and Grandma Higham  to Mesquite for a week's vacation.
We had a lot of fun at the pool and enjoyed the nice weather.

Owen really became a fish and was in the pool so much we thought he was going to grow gills. But he had a lot of fun with his aunts and cousins and Grampa and Grandma.

A new trick Owen learned was going down the water slide by himself. He had to be sure someone was down below waiting to catch him. After a while he started going down backwards and doing lots of tricks.

We also made a trip to Hoover Dam. We took the tour inside the dam and took plenty of pictures. Owen thought the elevator ride was the best.

We also took a walk out on the new bridge that was built to ease traffic across the Dam. It was a windy day out on that bridge! The temperature started going up that day, too. So it was hot and windy!

Because of the heat, we took a break at Dad's favorite eatery in Las Vegas: Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville! While Grandma drank a giant margarita, Dad and Owen just about drank their weight in cold root beer. Mom was disappointed as she could only drink a non-alcoholic margarita. Owen had the mac and cheese while Mom had the grilled turkey burger. Dad of course had the Cheeseburger in Paradise all while watching the dancing girl fall into the giant volcano and then slide down into a giant blender full of margarita! We had a blast.

We caught the light show down Fremont Street and had a lot of fun.

Then, a little boy's dream came true! Owen got to have a lightsaber duel with the one and only Darth Vader! Darth was pretty cool as let Owen fight him for quite some time before he finally surrendered to Owen, the bravest Jedi ever!

Even though Dad figured that it was probably some homeless guy in a Darth Vader costume, he didn't care. Both he and Owen had to get a picture with the Dark Lord of the Sith. Afterall, homeless guy or not, it's STILL Darth Vader!

Owen and his cousin Layla did keep themselves busy at the arcade inside the casino. While the grown-ups took turns gambling, the kids played to their heart's content in the arcade. Luckily, the kids were still young enough that the games were just as fun WITHOUT putting in quarters.

All in all, Owen had a fun week. But by the time it was over, he was ready to come home. He said he missed his toys and his dog Lily. But the memories of this year's vacation still remain!
