And because misery loves company, we decided to invite the whole crew up to celebrate with us. Dad made his favorite spaghetti recipe (as seen in The Godfather. Chop up some garlic fry it up in the pot with some olive oil. Add two cans of tomato paste. Fry that up for a bit. Add two cans whole canned tomatoes and one can tomato sauce. Add Italian sausage and meatballs. Add some Italian seasoning and garlic salt/powder to taste. Top it off with a half cup of sugar. Meatballs: 1 pound ground beef, 1 pound ground pork (Dad uses some pork sausage Uncle Travis gave to him from a wild boar he shot last year). Mix together with two eggs, Italian seasoning and garlic salt. Add Italian bread crumbs. Roll into balls and fry).
Anyway, we cooked up some of that and had a big feast. Everyone came up and had a good time.
We partied it up. After eating the kids went to Adams Park to run around for a while. The rest of us stayed behind to recover. Soon it was time for some presents.
Dad had plenty of help around willing to open up any presents he may have felt physically unable to open himself.
But whether he needed the help or not, opening up the presents became a group effort anyway. An thirty-four years old or not, Dad still likes getting the occasional toy on his birthday. This is from his nephew Hunter. Who really wanted to play with it himself.
After some cake and ice cream, the night wound down and we watched the Utah Jazz blow a 21 point lead against the Phoenix Suns. Luckily they rallied to push the game into overtime where they finally won the game. Good thing, now we can all sleep better tonight.
All in all I think everyone had a great time and everyone made it home before the big storm hit Sunday morning and buried us in what looks like 80 feet of snow. So much for spring.
And next month we get to do it all over again when Owen turns the big One.
